Question out there for all bass enthusiasts;

After watch the Classic on ESPN I noticed alot of the professinals tie the line directly to the lure and do not use a snap set up. As I know out on the water time counts so which method does everyone pefer?

Personally, it all depends on how long I plan on using a particular lure. If I'm am trying to get a feel for what the fish are biting on I'll tie on a swivel. This way I get to try a few different lures without having to waste too much time. However, once I've found a lure that is getting hit consistently I might tie it on directly. I find that I have a lot less chance of losing a large fish if I tie the lure on directly. There is nothing more frustrating that losing a large fish and finding out that the swivel coming undone was the cause.

I agree, a swivel is a device which lets someone out on the water the flexibility to switch up their lure / bait on an instant. However with this additional functionality, the bass angler looses some of the saftey which a direct tie provides.

I have found that tieing directly to the lure gives it the action it is designed to do. However, if I am fishing a lure with a splitring attached I remove it and use guick snaps.

direct tie,thats what clippers are for to cut the line when you want to change out. Swivels seem to take away some of the action of a crankbait and i fish a lot with floating worms...so no swivel for me
