This page gives the bass angler some quick tips including how to get some bait in a pinch and the best way to preserve live bait?

Bait

Air it out: When you purchase minnows or other small fish, it is a good idea to purchase oxygen tablets to add to your bait bucket. These tablets will ensure your bait stays alive until you reach your fishing destination.

Minnows:

1) When using minnows for bait, make sure you rig up a small light hook which is made of fine wire. The best way to attach the minnow is to run the hook through the lips of the minnow.
2) When purchasing minnows, make sure they are located near the bottom or corner of the tank and that they are swimming together.

Worm Home:
A worm container can be made with any type of container with a plastic lid. I have had the best results with a coffee can. Collect a couple of the same type of cans, save the lids, and remove the bottom from one of the empty containers. Place the lid on both the top and bottom of the can and put your worms in the container. Ensure to fill the can with some dirt to ensure the best results.

Free Worms:
When you hear on the weather report that your area is expecting rain, place a flat piece of Styrofoam or wooden board on the ground. Make sure it is weighted down by some sort of weight to ensure it does not fly away. After the rain ends, lift up the material you placed on the ground and pick up the worms that came to the surface.

Scent:
If you are not a live bait fisherman, here is a way to trick the fish. The night before you go fishing purchase some worms and place your lures or rubber worms in the worm canister. The artificial bait will pick up the natural scent of the live fish, which will increase your odds the next day.

Worm Rig:
When you bait a hook, you do not have to cover up the point of the hook. Fish do not seem to mind the point if it shows.
