All bass fisherman know that every tip helps when out looking for largemouth bass. Check out this page for some quick tips which should help increase your catch.



Largemouth Bass Tips

Where to look:

Largemouth love areas where aquatic plants are present. In addition to weed beds, largemouths also prefer areas with cover such as stumps, logs, and standing timber.

Spring:
Largemouth’s spawn in the spring when the water temperature reaches 62 to 65 degrees. The fish usually spawn in gravel flats in 1 to 3 feet of water. Try to use smaller lures and baits during the spring months.

Summer:
Largemouth are most active during this time period and can be found in heavy weed cover. They prefer lily pad or heavy patches of aquatic cabbage. Morning or evening is the best time to fish.

Fall:
Largemouth are less active during this time since the water temperature drops which kills off the weed cover. They can be found in deeper water of 15 to 30 feet.

Winter:
Largemouth’s least active time period and can be found in the deepest parts of the water body.
