Tips for Fishing Docks

Tips for Fishing Docks
When scouting a new fishing spot for lunker bass, most fishermen look for fallen trees and weeds. I agree these places are usually very fruitful for bass anglers, but there is one area which does not get much attention, docks. Since I am a big fan of fishing docks, I have compiled some tips for all anglers when fishing around docks.
Docks which are surrounded by open sandy alleys are better than ones where weeds abound.
Docks which are closer to the water provide more shade and due to this are more productive than those which rise far off the surface of the water.
Any dock which is adjacent to lily pads and brush patches will usually have more fishing in them than ones that are adjacent to clear water.
The greater numbers of docks that are side by side, the more likely bass are going to use them. When fishing these types of areas keep in mind that the docks which are on the end usually hold more bass than those in the middle.
The best time to fish around docks is when it is bright and sunny out.
If you see / catch a lot of smaller pan fish near a doc there is a higher likelihood that bass are in the area.
When searching for largemouths, look for structures on sand. If you out for small mouths docks on rocks are more popular.
Since most dock bass are active biters, the best type of baits are plastics and porks.
Top waters, buzz baits and spinner baits are the best to pick the pass in the front or alongside the dock. However my favorite is a jig or a soft plastic.
The best time to fish around docks is during the summer and during the midday.
